EVA MARIA LOURDES MARTINEZ

With a background in psychology, Eva uses a multifaceted approach to explore human cognition.  Providing a platform for reflection, her practice is rooted in the ways we might test ideas and foster understanding through an engagement with the imagination.  Her work in this show considers the ways we might reorient ourselves from real to imagined spaces using tactile and video media.

Our in-progress action interview is taking a longer, more inhabited format. We regularly meet to discuss ideas and process though the creation of what we’re calling “rooms.” We trade off roles, where one person explains what they think about the topic at hand, and the other person translates this though the metaphorical building of a “room” in sketch up modeling software. We are making a series of these rooms, which we’re making into real models, to explore emergence in collective thought through collaborative projects.
